On the article Toms River Begins 'Calling Out' Easement Holdouts

Plus, Beverly is confusing an easement with a taking. Very different! An easement is for passage o er a part of the land (in this case to get to the beach) and is limited in scope. We all give easements to the utility companies, for the limited purpose of installing, maintaining and billing for services. People need to see the bigger picture here and not listen to the exaggerated hype by those who do 't want dunes to block their view, because apparently they can afford $30-50,000 in annual flood insurance premiums.

On the article Jury Finds DiGilio Not Guilty

ReplyLove all these comments from people who know only the couple of lines they read in a newspaper, if that, out of a 3-week trial. The State 's case was very weak and the defendant's attorney was very competent and pointed out every shortcoming, just like he's supposed to. And our justice system gives the defendant, not the state, the benefit of the doubt. The jury is told by the judge that they must acquit if they have areasonable doubt, and this case was filled with doubt. Trials don't substitute for karma, and all these comments about karma are emotional because a tragedy occurred, but they are not "legal."

A "disability" under today's ultra-liberal definition maybe, but not a disability in the true sense, meaning an actual incapacity. Today's "disability" includes so many absurd "conditions" that almost anyone so inclined could make a claim. I guess this keeps the unemployment numbers down, though....

ReplyThey love the hype- it keeps them relevant, in their own minds at least. It all means nothing until a particular storm forms and tracks, and even then it can change in a minute....

ReplyLooks like that house has been raised to accept posts or pilings but has not yet been put back on its new foundation.

I was there - the opening was much better than this story describes in its selective reporting

ReplyJerseyswamps, you are 100% on the money. When I bought my house in Silverton 22 years ago, I had no choice but to buy flood insurance and to buy it thru the government, because it was the only one writing flood policies. I have paid $1000 per month and now I have to spend $$$$ to raise my house because they mismanaged the money and paid claims to uninsured residents of New Orleans after Katrina ( let's not even go into why!). I would never have chosen a government program over private industry if I had had a CHOICE, which I did not. So those of you showing your ignorance should STFU and maybe change your focus to how the government is now in control of your healthcare. Can't wait to see how that's going in 22 years. Of course, none of the people who passed it are in it, and they (or their successors) will still be running the show and bankrupting everyone but themselves.

What you say may be true, but it's business as usual and no different from any other legislation ever passed, including relief packages for other disasters.

You have to love a comment like "Einstien" (misspelled) "your" (wrong grammar) not!! That along with the poster's "name" used to establish his/her view of everyone else is some delicious irony for my Saturday morning coffee....
