ReplyLet's see, These are my favorite memories
1. Harry Kniffen working tirelessly at the 50-50 "You gotta be in it to win it"
2. Bud Warren working in the car raffle booth with Bud DuPree
3. The Paratrooper, the Trabant, the Zipper, and of course the Tempest.
4. Fried Egg Plant
5. Steamers and butter sauce
6. That carnival smell, something crossed between Frying oil, popcorn, candy apples, cotton candy, Clam Chowder, and soft shell crabs.
7. Minature Golf, I have played a lot of minature golf, none comes close to the course at the Fair Haven Firemen's Fair. I could play that course a million times! (I think I have)
8. Riding on the Pumper Truck Down Battin Road and back a thousand times. I am sure those poor folks were tired of the siren.
9. Sitting in my bedroom witht he windows open in August and hearing the sounds of the fair from three blocks away! -

ReplySad. New development always seems to eliminate the older homes and buildings with character and replaces them with new buildings without that Je ne sais quoi!

Drinking Beer at night on the end of the dock and dumping the beer in the river when the officers came walking down the dock. Who knew we were not the first kids to think of that and the officers had pool poles they strapped under the dock with nets to scoop the beer up?
