Avon — Longtime Avon restaurateur Rob Fishman, owner of the Avon Pavilion, went to Borough Hall on Monday to show officials new blueprints for rebuilding the boardwalk mainstay. He left without a restaurant. Read more on Wall Patch   Rumson — In the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, those living along the Shrewsbury River in the hard-hit West Park section of Rumson rallied to sift through soggy debris, dry out their homes and rebuild. Three months after Sandy struck on Oct. 29, while there are still remnants of the storm peppering West Park, there are also many signs of completed rebuilding and in-process elevations. Seaside Park — Nearly three months after superstorm Sandy swamped Island Beach State Park, sections of the park are now open to the public, free of charge. “This partial reopening of Island Beach State Park is an important benchmark in the state’s recovery from Sandy,” Gov. Chris Christie and a host of elected officials stood amid a still recovering Ocean Avenue in Belmar Wednesday to kick off the rebuilding of the borough’s boardwalk 73 days after Hurricane Sandy. Brick Township — Patrick Doyle, the man who fatally struck and killed a Brick teenager on a skateboard in 2011, will spend the next six months in jail and lose his license for 10 years, a judge ruled Thursday night. Doyle, 55, pleaded guilty to a single count of driving while intoxicated in front of Municipal Court Judge Daniel Sahin in Brick Township municipal court. It is his third DWI conviction. Manchester- Christopher M. Monahan's last tour of duty in the Middle East was his third deployment away from his wife and three small children. The young man joined the U.S. Marines after he graduated from Central Regional High School in 2006. He lived most of his life in Ocean Gate, but had moved to Island Heights before his deployment, according to his obituary from Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home in Toms River. Point Beach- Point Beach police, fire and first aid responders worked in the cold, rising tide of the Manasquan Inlet waters Thursday night to save a woman and a boy who had tried to save her himself. Gabrielle Hillman, a 21-year-old Belmar resident and St. Rose High School graduate found dead in her Pennsylvania college dorm room Monday, had a bright future ahead of her, according to those who knew her.  Read more on Manasquan-Belmar Patch. Hazlet - A former employee of the Hazlet Township and Piscataway School Districts was arrested by the state police, and charged with stealing approximately $565,772 from both districts.  According to police, former Transportation Manager/Supervisor Michelle Pumilia, 39, of Union Beach authorized payments to fictitious bus companies for transportation services that were never provided to the districts, Attorney General Jeffrey S.
