Merchants Invited to Talk Recovery at County Forum Monday

Economic impact round-table planned at eastern branch of county library in Shrewsbury

Business owners affected by superstorm Sandy are invited to an economic impact round-table discussion sponsored by county freeholders Monday night. Merchants are asked to RSVP at Susan.Folta@co.monmouth.nj.us to attend the 6 p.m. session at the eastern branch of the Monmouth County Library, 1001 Route 35, Shrewsbury. “The roundtable is being held to ensure that the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA) hears directly about what our local businesses have experienced and to move the economic recovery forward,” Freeholder Deputy Director Thomas A. Holiday Job Fair at Monmouth County Library Friday

Looking for some holiday work this year? Look no further than Monmouth County Library Headquarters in Manalapan, which is holding a seasonal job fair this Friday, Oct. 12 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. “Monmouth County’s seasonal job fair is a great opportunity for someone to find the right holiday employment opportunity,” Freeholder Thomas A. Arnone, the liaison to the county’s Division of Workforce Development, said. “Our area’s top holiday employers are looking for talented candidates to help them through the busy selling season.” The free event hosts 70 employment resource organizations, many of which have retail positions available. Ex-Addicts, Families Discuss Truths of Substance Abuse

The drug forum on heroin and other opiate use in youth and young adults was held at the Monmouth County Library Headquarters.

For New Jersey families, heroin and opiate addiction hits a lot closer to home than many want to admit. More than 100 residents from throughout the state gathered at the Monmouth County Library in Manalapan Thursday for the Governor’s Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse's third hearing on drug and alcohol addiction. During the forum, two familes spoke to the task force about their experiences with rehab groups, outpatient therapy and insurance and what they deemed skewed priorities, or lack thereof, in treatment because of insurance coverage. The father of an addict addressed the task force about problems he experienced with insurance and rehab while his son went through a heroin addiction that ultimately took his life. “The day my son went …

Still Time to Donate to County Food Drive

Food donations can be dropped off at your nearest Monmouth County Library branch.

With less than a week to go in the month of April the Monmouth County Board of Chosen Freeholders is continuing a food drive that has collected more than five tons of items for the FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties. The drive is being held in April which is also National County Government Month. This year's theme is "Healthy Counties, Healthy Families." Freeholder Deputy Director John P. Curley said the drive has been a rousing success so far. "We are so pleased with the generosity our residents have shown during this food drive," he said. Irene Planning and Response Open Public Hearing for Monmouth County Residents

The state of New Jersey is opening up a forum for residents to speak about Hurricane Irene damage, efficiency of town responders, and direction on any help they may need.

The Board of Public Utilities will hold a public hearing for Monmouth County residents who were negatively impacted by Hurricane Irene’s destruction.  The open forum will take place on Monday, Sept. 26 at the Monmouth County Library headquarters on 125 Symmes Drive in Manalapan, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. County citizens, elected officials, representatives of the power companies, and all other responders during and after Hurricane Irene are encouraged to comment about any concerns they have in regard to the destruction caused by Irene and the response following the storm.
