Car Flipped on Hood in Route 35 Crash

Three patients transported to hospital in accident involving at least two vehicles, which led to significant traffic delays on Route 35 South Friday evening.

An accident that resulted in an overturned minivan at the intersection of New Monmouth Road and Route 35 south in Middletown backed up traffic to Kings Highway Friday evening. Middletown police, fire and emergency service personnel were on scene of the accident, which involved two vehicles. A minivan had flipped fully onto its hood on the grass in front of the Bank of America building. The driver in the overturned minivan was conscious and alert when extricated by emergency workers, said Middletown First Aid spokesperson Beth Edwards. One patient was transported to Riverview Hospital by MONOC medics; two other people were taken to the hospital by First Aid ambulances. No information on patients or their conditions was immediately available…

Pedestrian Struck Near Navesink River Road

Accident occurred Monday morning over the border in Middletown

A vehicle struck a pedestrian at the intersection of Route 35 and Navesink River Road, Middletown Emergency Medical Services Public Information Officer Bob Pfleger confirmed. The incident occurred Monday shortly before noon. A medevac helicopter was initially called for the pedestrian, but the extent of the injuries and whether the patient was ultimately transported via ambulance or medevac was not known. The extent of the pedestrian’s injuries was not immediately known.

Our best wishes go out to the pedestrian who was injured, and their family. Clearly our busy roads pose a hazard for residents and drivers alike. Sadly, Route 35 lacks a safe pedestrian route or alternative for much of its route.   more ›
