Fair Haven Agenda: Smoking Ban, Sidewalk Cafes, Riverfront, Fireworks

The regular Fair Haven Borough Council meeting is Monday night

Fair Haven's Borough Council is meeting at 7 p.m. tonight and the agenda is flush with issues that have been broached before. Some conversations will be continued and other issues will are slated for resolution.  • It was at the last meeting that the notion of banning smoking in public places, or at least parks, was brought up. Some council members thought it was a good idea. Others thought it was feasbile within limits. Yet, others wondered whether or not it took too many rights away from residents. To refresh your memory on what was discussed at the last meeting, click here for the full story. It's back on the agenda again as a workshop item. • When it comes to sidewalk dining, the governing body is all for it. However, officials have …

Fair Haven Smoking Ban Debate Sparked

Council considers the idea of banning smoking in parks and/or public places

"Welcome to Fair Haven. We're not your ashtray. Keep your butts in the car." TELL US: Should Red Bank Ban Smoking in Parks?

The governing body is considering a ban that could start with borough parks.

There may soon be no place, or limited places, to go outside for a smoke in Red Bank. The Borough Council last night discussed moving forward with banning smoking in parks, citing that if it can be done elsewhere, it can be done in Red Bank for the enhanced quality of life of residents and visitors to the borough looking to get some fresh air, according to a story in the Asbury Park Press. Nothing definitive has yet been decided, but officials brought up that the idea makes sense in light of broader health initiatives undertaken by the mayor's Wellness Campaign Committee, according to the report. Menna brought up the idea that smoking could potentially be banned in all public spaces, the report noted. Tell us what you think. Should the …
