It's that time of the year again. Next door in Red Bank, the annual sidewalk sale is returning to the borough's business district this weekend with three days of sales, music and activities for children. Hosted by Red Bank RiverCenter, the event, now in its 58th year, is being called Shop, Rock and Stroll, and will feature live entertainment on Saturday and Sunday, including the music series StreetLife, and magicians, stilt walkers and face painters, among other things. And yes, there will be sales. Nearly 100 businesses, restaurants, and organizations are participating the three-day event. Over 50 retailers and 200 homes took part in the 2nd annual Fair Haven Town Wide Yard Sale, drawing shoppers to the streets.
After a week of downpours, Saturday was a perfectly sunny day for the Fair Haven Town Wide Yard Sale. Over 50 retailers and over 100 households took part in the 2nd annual event. Storeowners held side walk sales along River Road while shoppers could use the supplied map to hunt out bargains at the yard sales throughout town. Orange balloons lined River Road and were used to mark each yard sale. Author James Weil signed his new book Swiss Chocolate outside River Rd Books. Much of his story is set in his home town of Rumson.

Fair Haven is gearing up to host their second annual town-wide sale on May 21st with 100+ residential yard sales and 30+ local businesses having a sidewalk sale at the same time. “Last year, the event was a great success with more than half of Fair Haven households participating. Traffic was unbelievable on River Road and local merchants came together around a fun town affair,” said Michel Berger, President of Fair Haven Business Association (FHBA). “It is our local version of Facebook and eBay, hanging out with neighbors and selling stuff.” Bargain hunters will discover treasures in Fair Haven – books, furniture, collectibles, tools, clothes, toys, knickknacks, jewelry and more.
