Rumson Kitchen Tour Vendors Showcase at Salt Creek Grille

Local shops and artists

The Rumson Education Foundation's held its annual a La Cart Kitchen Tour on Wednesday. Patch stopped by the Salt Creek Grille where tickets were being sold to check out the vendor showcase where about 10 artists and shop keepers offered their merchandise to tour goers. We spotted Christine from Shutters and Donna and Leigh from Bain's Outdoor Living, displaying their shops' wares. We also met Brigitte Crowley of Pixie Paige with her gorgeous and adorable handmade aprons. Also showcasing her work was Doreen Catena who crafts canvases, furniture, floor coverings and coasters from used billboards. Love the modern look. Shayne Wolfe of Ink in Sea Bright (inside Cocotay Boutique) was on hand with her papery gifts and handbags. We might have to …

Businesses with power fed hundreds of residents without it. Businesses with outages lost food and revenue.

After Irene swept across the East Coast thousands were left without electricity. Some business owners in Rumson and Fair Haven are thankful for their power; others not so fortunate are starting to feel the pressure. “We are glad to have had power through the whole storm,” said Steve Bidgood, owner of Salt Creek Grill in Rumson. “We got to feed a lot of people who didn’t have power on Sunday and Monday night.” Salt Creek Grill was one of the few businesses in Rumson that maintained power through Irene’s rage.
