The burglary occurred in February
Two area men have been indicted on charges stemming from a February car burglary incident in Rumson. The men, Stanely T. Adlar IV, 32, of 34 Park Ave., Keansburg, and Gary J. Jorgensen, 30, of 3 Mercury St., Middletown, allegedly broke into a car parked in the parking lot of the Rumson Buy Rite, West River Road, on Feb. 21 and stole a pocketbook, cell phone, iPod, make-up bag and medication valued at approximately $500, the arrest record and indictment said. The men, upon their arrest, were also allegedly found to be in possession of a controlled dangerous substance, the prescription drug Alprazolam, according to the indictment. Scores run gamut of academics to student growth performance
When it comes to academics, the NJ School Performance Report places Rumson's Forrestdale School in a very high, the highest, category. The school outperformed 91 percent of schools across the state in academics, a "very high" score, and 62 percent of the schools in its peer group, a "high" score. The Academic Achievement category "measures the content knowledge students have in language arts literacy and math," according to the report. Forrestdale also shows that it is meeting 83 percent of its performance targets in the category. College and Career Readiness showed Forrestdale at a high statewide rank, outpacing 76 percent of schools. Among peers, the school outpaced a lower 49 percent. Police: More than $1,000 worth of belongings stolen
Rumson police have issued a warrant for the arrest of an area man on the charges that he burglarized a car parked in the Rumson Buy Rite parking lot. According to an accomplice's statement, Stanley T. Adlar IV, 32, of 34 Park Ave., Keansburg, allegedly stole a purse and its contents out of a car parked in the back lot of the Rumson Buy Rite, West River Road, on or about Feb. 21, a complaint warrant, signed by Rumson Detective Chris Isherwood, said. The contents of the purse, it specified, were valued at $1,275. Adlar faces two charges: one third-degree offense of burglary, or entering/opening the vehicle he was not authorized to enter, with the purpose of removing the contents; and theft of moveable property, also a third degree offense, …

It's New Jersey's newest St. Paddy's Day Parade. The first annual Rumson St. Patrick’s Day Parade will march through Rumson on Sunday, March 10, rain or shine. The parade stages at Victory Park on River Road in Rumson and will kick off at 1 p.m., marching to East River Road and turning right onto Carton Street, proceeding to the Forrestdale School, where the parade will conclude. Viewers are invited to line the one mile parade course. Officials claim residents were overbilled between 2006 and 2009 by the Two Rivers Water Reclamation Authority.
Rumson and Sea Bright are among the six municipalities suing the Two Rivers Water Reclamation Authority (TRWRA), charging the utility overbilled, and in some instances double-billed, its residents, according to a report on APP.com. The suit, filed in December by Red Bank, Rumson, Eatontown, Sea Bright, Shrewsbury Township and Tinton Falls, alleges that TRWRA charged residents higher rates than other participating towns, amounting to an estimated $4.31 million in overbilling between the 2006 and 2009 fiscal years, the article states. Fair Haven, Little Silver, Monmouth Beach, Oceanport, Shrewsbury Borough and West Long Branch founded the authority in 1965 and are considered "member towns." The Rumson-Fair Haven Jr. Bulldog Wrestling Team recently completed an unblemished 6-0 regular season in the Jersey Shore Junior Wrestling League (JSJWL) B-Liberty Division. "This group of eighth graders has led the younger boys by example, showing them the benefit of hard work," Head Coach Tom Skove, of Rumson, said. "They are my assistant coaches in the wrestling room. We're going to miss them next year, but they have instilled in our younger wrestlers the passion and desire that they have exhibited over the last several years." By defeating the BYAA 2 Gators, the Jr. Bulldogs won the Division Championship and will move up to the B-Patriot Division for the 2013-14 season.
