A child's memory can tend to hone in on funhouse mirror-like images. An area man has been arrested on charges that he allegedly stole televisions from a nearby nursing home. On April 7 at 7:12 p.m., Christpher C. Jones, 24, of 425 Broadway, Long Branch, was allegedly identified as the person who took two LG televisions, valued at about $500, out of the Chapin Hill Nursing Home in Red Bank, the complaint warrant, signed by Red Bank Police Capt. Darren McConnell, said. Jones was charged with theft of moveable property. His bail was set at $20,000 and his first appearance in court was scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on April 11.

An area man faces a unique drug possession charge following a traffic stop nearby in Red Bank. Patrolwoman Heather Publyski pulled over David H. Roe, 26, of Shrewsbury, along North Bridge Avenue at 9:13 p.m. on Sunday, March 24, for a motor vehicle violation. Upon further investigation, Roe was allegedly found with heroin in three wax paper packages stamped "Athletic," according to court documents. He was remanded to Monmouth County Correctional Institution on $5,000 bail, with an option to post 10 percent of the bond.

Once upon a time there was a round plastic thing with a hole in the middle of it called a record. There were LP records that were bigger and played longer (long playing), playing several songs on each side. There were small records, too, called 45s that played one song on each side. And, yes, you had to manually lift them off the record player and flip them to hear each side. There were these things called pianos that you didn't plug in. And there was a thing called sheet music that you played on the piano while people sang along. There was no such thing as Karaoke. But you knew that, right? Krista Karagias has brought her unique style of jewelry to area shoppers the opening of her Poor Cat Designs store in Red Bank. Karagias, co-creator of the business, opened the new location at 65 Broad St. on Dec. 2 with the intention of setting up a store that would serve as a showcase for the large variety of handcrafted jewelry she offers. "The leather bracelet with the handcrafted charm is the signature look, but we are expanding the line on a daily basis and coming up with new charms every day," Karagias said. Eduardo Luna-Martinez faces charges related to violating a restraining order.
A local man has been indicted on burglary and contempt charges stemming from a November, 2012 incident during which he allegedly violated a restraining order. Eduardo Luna-Martinez, 34, of Shrewsbury Avenue, Red Bank, allegedly broke a glass window of another Red Bank home, gaining illegal entry at about 5 a.m. on Nov. 11, according to court documents. In doing so, he had "knowingly violated" a restraining order set by Judge Louis Garippo, the indictment issued by the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office said. Luna-Martinez was initially charged with criminal mischief for smashing the window, burglary for entering the property and contempt for the order violation. There may soon be no place, or limited places, to go outside for a smoke in Red Bank. The Borough Council last night discussed moving forward with banning smoking in parks, citing that if it can be done elsewhere, it can be done in Red Bank for the enhanced quality of life of residents and visitors to the borough looking to get some fresh air, according to a story in the Asbury Park Press. Nothing definitive has yet been decided, but officials brought up that the idea makes sense in light of broader health initiatives undertaken by the mayor's Wellness Campaign Committee, according to the report. Urika Tucker and Shanierah Aaron face credit card fraud and theft charges.
Two New York women have been indicted on credit card fraud and theft charges stemming from an August incident in Red Bank. Urika Tucker, 25, and Shanierah Aaron, 22, both of Brooklyn, NY, allegedly conspired to drive to Red Bank and use a fraudulently issued, obtained, counterfiet or stolen HSBC credit card in Aaron's name to attempt to purchase merchandise from the Coco Pari retail store in Red Bank on Aug. 29, 2012, the indictment from the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office said. The pair tried to purchase $11,000 worth of merchandise. The two allegedly committed "overt acts" by conspiring to make the drive, with Tucker operating the vehicle.
