Mother and Daughter Found Dead at Scene of Nearby Fire

The victims of the fire were identified on Wednesday morning.

A mother and daughter were found dead early Wednesday morning at the scene of a house fire in North Middletown. The victims of the fire are Diane Young, 54, and her daughter Jacquelin, 27, according to the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office.  They were pronounced dead by the Monmouth County Medical Examiner's Office at 3:50 a.m. The fire started on the second floor bedroom of the house on Ideal Avenue at about 10:50 p.m. on Tuesda. A cause has not yet been determined, but it was deemed an accident, according to Charles Webster of the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office.  Middletown police are investigating the fire with the county agency, said Lt. Car Flipped on Hood in Route 35 Crash

Three patients transported to hospital in accident involving at least two vehicles, which led to significant traffic delays on Route 35 South Friday evening.

An accident that resulted in an overturned minivan at the intersection of New Monmouth Road and Route 35 south in Middletown backed up traffic to Kings Highway Friday evening. Middletown police, fire and emergency service personnel were on scene of the accident, which involved two vehicles. A minivan had flipped fully onto its hood on the grass in front of the Bank of America building. The driver in the overturned minivan was conscious and alert when extricated by emergency workers, said Middletown First Aid spokesperson Beth Edwards. One patient was transported to Riverview Hospital by MONOC medics; two other people were taken to the hospital by First Aid ambulances. Bed Bath And Beyond Stabbing Victim In 'Good' Condition; Husband Thanks Supporters

A fundraising website for Kerri Dalton's expenses has been announced.

Kerri Dalton, the victim of a violent stabbing attack at Bed Bath and Beyond in Middletown on Jan. 17, is in "good condition" at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, a spokesman said.  The 29-year old Keansburg resident is taking strength by the expressions of support by the community, said her husband, Roger Dalton, in a written statement read aloud to the press by spokesman Robert Cavanaugh at the medical center.  “Kerri and I are thankful for the outpouring of support Kerri has received from family, friends and the public. Accused Bed Bath & Beyond Attacker Appears in Court

Defense reserves right to file motion on bail.

The Middletown man accused of stabbing a woman at Bed Bath & Beyond was stone-faced and did not speak during an initial appearance in Judge Thomas F. Scully’s courtroom in Freehold on Friday afternoon. Tyrik S. Haynes, 19, faces attempted murder and weapons charges after he allegedly stabbed a 29-year-old Keansburg woman 12 times while she was in the store shopping with her child. Haynes’ attorney, public defender Patrice Hayslett, said in court that she would reserve the right to file a motion for a reduction in the $1,050,000 bail set for him. The victim, identified by CBS News as Kerri Dalton, was in critical but stable condition on Friday, according to a press release issued by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office. Haynes did not …

Fire in Hotel Room at Comfort Inn Nearby

Nobody was hurt, and the fire was contained to the room by the Middletown Township Fire Department

When Carmen Ramos returned to the Comfort Inn on Route 35 in Middletown Sunday night, she saw fire trucks rolling out of the parking lot. When she pulled up outside her ground floor room, she was stunned to see the plate glass wall shattered, and the bed and furniture inside blackened by smoke and soaked by water.  "What happened?!" asked Ramos, a FEMA worker from Kissimmee, Florida who has been working in Lincroft since November. "Oh gosh!" she said.  A fire in her room set off an alarm at 5:32 p.m. and drew firefighters from four township fire companies and three first aid squads. Luxury Hotel For Dogs To Open Nearby

K-9 Resorts Daycare and Luxury Hotel will offer posh lodging for well-loved dogs.

Just over the bridge from the Rumson-Fair Haven area, K-9 Resorts Daycare & Luxury Hotel is opening a new 5,300-square-foot luxury hotel for dogs in Middletown, at Route 35 at Tindall Road, where the Centrex Gym used to be.  A construction crew is in the vacant site this week, framing out the trendy facility. K-9 Resorts plans to offer overnight accommodations for up to 160 dogs, and two doggie daycare areas for up to 80 dogs. A 3,000-square-foot fenced-in dog park in the back, with different areas for small and large dogs, is also in the plan.  "There is not even any comparison around to what we're going to be able to offer," said franchise owner Dan Cody, who will run the business with his wife Lisa. "Kennels are usually cages. Bon Jovi, Navesink Burglar Sentenced to Prison

The man who has been unofficially dubbed the Bon Jovi burglar has been handed a prison sentence for a string of burglaries and jewelry thefts from Navesink homes. Nicholas Tracy, 22, of Beachwood, was sentenced to five years in prison today in connection with those residential burglaries that resulted in the loss of more than $300,000 in jewelry and other personal items, Acting Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni announced in a press release. The sentence was imposed by the Honorable Ronald L. Reisner, J.S.C., and related to three residential break-ins in the Navesink section of Middletown, including, among others, the home of Jon Bon Jovi. Rumson Juvenile Arrested on Charges of Marijuana Possession

A Rumson juvenile was arrested in Middletown recently and charged with alleged marijuana and paraphernalia possession as well as narcotics influence. On Oct. 5, Middletown Police Cpl. Patricia Colangelo arrested a 17-year-old male and charged him with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and being under the influence of narcotics. The arrest took place after a motor vehicle stop and investigation. The juvenile was released pending a court date. * Possession of under 50 grams of marijuana is a disorderly persons offense.

Olga Boeckle, Middletown's First Female Mayor, Dies at 91

A horse farm owner, Boeckle dedicated much of her life to serving area causes

Middletown's first woman mayor, Olga Boeckle died Thursday, Sept 13, at age 91. Originally from Queens, NY, Boeckle graduated from Jamaica High School in 1930. She worked in Manhattan for three years before being hired by Pan Am in 1943. Pan Am, she had told many, gave her the incentive to be outgoing and to speak with publicly on any given subject. Boeckle came to Middletown after meeting and marrying her husband Ray, a custom homes builder. They owned and operated Sleepy Hollow Horse Farm in Middletown for 43 years. While serving as a secretary for the former Red Bank Register, Boeckle attended Columbia University, NY, to learn how to run a newspaper library, after which she became the Register's librarian for 15 years before retiring in…

Area House Fire Claims Life

Police and fire companies responded to a blaze at 160 Jersey Avenue in the middle of the night.

The Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office is investigating a fatal fire that charred a small bungalow at 160 Jersey Avenue in North Middletown. One person died in the fire, Assistant Monmouth County Prosecutor Marc LeMieux told the Asbury Park Press, but authorities have not released the person's identity.  The fire was reported to police around 1:30 a.m., according to the report. The small street was filled with ambulances and fire engines battling the blaze for several hours on the densely occupied block facing Route 36.
