Sidewalk Dining at Kind Burgers Soon

Former new Sea Bright burger place to open in a few weeks with tables outside; outdated ordinance revisited to encourage outdoor dining

Three weeks. That's the timeframe. At the end of three weeks, Fair Havenites should see the new Kind Burgers open on River Road and patrons dining outdoors. The new gluten-free gourmet burger joint, transplanted from its Hurricane Sandy-slammed spot in Sea Bright, will join the Fair Haven business and sidewalk cafe family right on the cusp of the unofficial summer's start. The sidewalk dining permit was approved, contingent on an anticipated zoning go-ahead, at last week's Borough Council meeting. However, the approval came with a grandfathered kink in the ordinance that officials are now working out. Co-owner Anthony Cafaro, of Rumson, showed at the meeting and told the governing body of his enthusiasm to open by mid-May and offer the …

Sign of New 'Kind' of Food Business

Kind Burgers set to open soon

It's a sign of the flipping from one type of food business to another burger-flipping place of a different kind in Fair Haven. After relocating from their new Hurricane Sandy-devastated Kind Burgers business in Sea Bright to the borough, the Rumson Cafaro family is almost ready to open on the River Road spot where Le Fandy, a French bistro, formerly sat. The sign tells the story of progress. "Sign goes up in Fair Haven," a post on the Kind Burgers Facebook page says. "We are making progress!" Mid-April is the opening estimate Anthony Cafaro gave on the Facebook post. There have also been signs of revamping the inside of the new burger joint that offers gluten-free options and unique and high quality meats. Rumson owners Yvette and Anthony …

Coming Soon: Three Fair Haven Eateries

Three closed shops will reopen as new places to get coffee, burgers and gourmet take-out

The signs of some new places to grab a bite and a beverage are sprouting up along River Road in Fair Haven, signaling a new start for some old mainstay spots. La Fandy has been empty for some time, and Patch has just received word that the popular Kind Burgers, a victim of Hurricane Sandy in Sea Bright, will take the spot. Rumson owners Yvette and Anthony Cafaro are thrilled to have found the place to relocate and rebuild their specialty burger business, after seeing the building they leased all washed away to Sandy. They had only been open for a couple months, since the end of August. "We started construction this week and plan to be open by April," Yvette Cafaro said. "We are very excited to bring Kind Burgers to Fair Haven where we will…

Different 'Kind' of Burger Joint Opens in Sea Bright

Kind Burgers offers Angus, Kobe, lamb, turkey and portobello burgers with the option of gluten-free rolls.

Just a couple weeks past schedule, Kind Burgers has rolled back its giant storefront windows to let the aroma of grilling beef flow out onto the sidewalks of downtown Sea Bright. "My children have been waiting with bated breath for this place to open," said Kate Grossardh, of Rumson. She and her son Will visited the new burger joint on Tuesday for a Kobe burger and and some Bell and Evans gluten-free chicken tenders. "We live right over the bridge so it's a close walk to somewhere that actually has healthy food," she said. Will, 8, seemed less concerned with the healthful benefits of his chicken tenders and more with how hungry he was after his three-hour practice with his soccer team, the Rumson Dirty Dawgs. "The food is good," he said …
