Point Pleasant Beach: Stay Out of Town!

Police ask that people stay away from beach and boardwalk

Point Pleasant Beach police are strongly urging that people not come to town to look at the ocean or Manasquan Inlet. "We seem to be having an influx of people coming into town in order to look at the ocean and inlet," said Detective Pat Petruzziello early Sunday afternoon. He said police are strongly urging people "to not come into town for this purpose as we are in the midst of a mandatory evacuation." The police are currently working on getting residents and visitors east of the NJ Transit train tracks, on Arnold Avenue and Route 35 north, out of town as quickly as possible and by a 4 p.m. deadline at the latest. More Than 20 Treated After Second Monmouth County Courthouse Evacuation

More employees have reported feeling ill. Emergency responders are at the scene of the incident.

Police and emergency responders are on the scene at the Monmouth County Courthouse after it was evacuated due to multiple employees falling ill.  Employees evacuated the building for the second time in two business days. The building was first evacuated on Friday, June 15. The building was evacuated again today at about 1 p.m., and completely closed through tomorrow. A hospital spokesperson told News 12 at least 25 people are being treated at CentraState Medical Center in Freehold, where a decontamination tent has been set up for patients from the courthouse. Local Reception Centers Established for Residents Looking to Evacuate

Shuttles will bring people from the centers to the shelters. Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School will serve as Rumson Borough's center.

The Monmouth County Office of Emergency Management advises residents interested in going to an emergency shelter go to their local reception centers, according to the county's hurricane advisory Web site. Shuttle buses will bring people from the centers to shelters in the county. Rumson Borough is one of 16 towns establishing such reception centers. Local residents looking to evacuate should go to Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School. Other local reception centers are: Pets will not be allowed on the buses.
