Man Stabbed Over Parking Space Argument

The two men had been arguing over a parking space, according to police.

An Eatontown resident has been arrested and charged with allegedly stabbing a West Long Branch man on Monday night. Eatontown Police Det. Lawrence Tyler said the department received a call on Feb. 18 at 7:08 p.m. for a stabbing which had occurred on Scheri Lane in the Pine Tree Mobile Home Park, off Route 35 south. Arriving police officers found that there had been an altercation over a parking space in front of one of the mobile homes on Scheri Lane and a 34-year-old West Long Branch man had been stabbed during the altercation. Tyler said the man was visiting a friend in the mobile home park. Juan A. Sierra, 44, of Scheri Lane, apparently was upset because the West Long Branch resident had parked in front of his mobile home, leaving him …

TELL US: Are You Curious About Future of Fort Monmouth?

The Army is slowly releasing its grip on 1,126 acres of prime Monmouth County real estate. Want to know what's happening to it?

Refurbished historic homes, new eateries, sports facilities, a health club, an office park, those are all among the likely new uses for the former Fort Monmouth. Right now the former Army post is more than 1,000 acres of property right smack in the middle of one of the most desirable areas of Monmouth County. But if you are like many residents who live close to the fort, you have no earthly idea what's happening over there. Local governments, schools and the county have all put dibs on their favorite properties. Big business has already secured one plot. Small businesses also are getting in on the action. Redevelopers say they expect to see significant redevelopment of the fort within 10 years — that's new homes, businesses, recreation …

Center for Vocational Rehabilitation Packages Goods and Delivers Jobs

CVR trains and employs disabled residents in Monmouth and Ocean counties while providing services for area businesses.

A weak economy can make any work-a-day job easier to take, but none could be happier than the crew who report to CVR on Industrial Way in Eatontown. It's definitely not the building that inspires them. Inside the warehouse, conference rooms and classrooms have a worn, non-profit feel. Rooms are cramped and the lighting is office building unflattering. And yet, everyone here is smiling. Really, everyone. At an anger management group session, the participants wave enthusiastically and shout hello when introduced to a reporter. And for Patch's benefit the group leader asks a woman with headphones around her neck, "What do you do when you're angry?" "I listen to music or walk away," she says, adding with a smile, "I love music."  But if …

Road Construction Near Monmouth Mall Six Months Behind Schedule

DOT says utility relocation to blame.

Construction at the intersection of Routes 35 and 36 in Eatontown has hit a speed bump. The New Jersey Department of Transportation, which is running the massive project near Monmouth Mall, said this week that work there will take six months longer than originally projected. The project will realign Route 35, reconfigure traffic at its intersection with Route 36 and add sidewalks. According to DOT spokesman Timothy Greeley, the department recently authorized a schedule extension, which will push the project out to January 2013. The DOT reported only minor delays in October due to utility relocation and said its contractor was rearranging the construction schedule to keep the project moving, even as it waited on utility companies to move …
