Aficiandos of Hess toy trucks can rest assured that Christmas sales of their toy trucks will continue at the corporation's convenience stores.
Recent headlines announcing Hess Corporation's exit from the energy marketing and refining end of its global business will not affect what is perhaps its second-most-coveted consumer item after the petrol: the Hess Toy Truck. "The toy trucks which have been a tradition for 48 years will continue," a Hess spokesperson said, adding that "this November, the company will continue to sell the trucks at their stores." Since 1964, Hess Corporation has sold its classic toy trucks; offering a variety of collectible miniature trucks to consumers at the start of the holiday season each year in November. Despite the corporation's impending closure of its 1,350 retail gas stations, consumers will still be able to find the eclectic toys at Hess …

New antique shop in Fair Haven features Muddy-Puddles ‘Camp for Grown-ups’
It's not Alice's wonderland, but for antiques enthusiasts, a trip down the rabbit hole into a fantasy 'tiquing world at Tweedle Dee Antiques & Such can be a dream venture come true. Owned by Fair Haven resident Laura Kent, the shop opened its doors in mid-August at 810 River Road, Fair Haven. The 1,500-square-foot rented space formerly housed The Berry Patch and Barefoot Bride, and although additions were done during the 1960s, the building dates from the 1800s, ideal for an antique shop. “My customers tell me the shop is more like a home — cozy, warm and inviting — so I am thrilled with that,” said Kent. Kent grew up locally, eventually settling in Fair Haven. The choice of her hometown for Tweedle Dee was a “no-brainer” for Kent, she …

The site, zoned for business, has been shuttered for months. Do you think it's time for a change in use?
For as long as most Fair Havenites can remember, there has been a gas station at the corner of River Road and Cedar Avenue. Now, the signs are covered, pumps are shut down and coned off and the site only home to a shuttered, boarded-up former Rich’s Ultra Sunoco. What’s in store for the site? No one knows right now, but its history has been consistent. There has been a gas station on the site for decades. Before it was Rich’s Sunoco, it was Duckworth’s. And there were others dating back many years. Most recently, until May, when the gas station was shuttered, the site has been leased. Rich Bercaw, the Rich of Rich’sUltra Sunoco, leased it through Sunoco, Mayor Ben Lucarelli said. “The rent had gotten very steep and, as far as I know, the …

Business dedicated to pilates instruction opened two weeks ago
There’s a new business shaping up in Fair Haven. Just in time for lending a helping stretch to those on a mission toward a better bathing suit body for the summer, Fair Haven native Sandi Vilacoba opened The Pilates Project a couple of weeks ago in the rear shopping plaza by Acme. You’ve probably walked or driven by the studio several times without noticing. And you’re not alone. It’s because there’s no sign yet. But, Vilacoba ensures us that the studio is open for business. Small group classes and private and semi-private instruction are offered on the reformer, Cadillac, chair, spine corrector and barrel equipment. Traditional mat classes are also taught. Vilacoba is a trained pilates instructor and dancer. She is also a former …

Both sides are still negotiating details before the lease is signed.
Good news coffe lovers: the Little Silver Borough Council accepted a bid from Rook Coffee Roasters on Monday night to run the train station's concession stand. But Holly Migliaccio, co-owner of the popular local beanery, stressed to Patch on Thursday that the lease hasn't been signed and details still need to be negotiated for the three-year deal that they won with their $10,800 bid. What she did share was that the train station outpost will be set up much the same way as the Rook's Long Branch and Oakhurst shops, with coffee sold to-go and no seating. There will also be the same selection of "good, high quality" food, said Migliaccio, like bagels from Red Bank's Bagel Oven and baked treats from Balthazar Bakery. Rook will have the option …
