The board’s deadline for accepting applications to fill the seat is the end of the business day tomorrow, Aug. 30. Board member Colleen Hodge, of Monmouth Avenue, who was in the first year of her second three-year term on the nine-member dais, resigned recently. Hodge was instrumental in bringing an edible garden to Forrestdale School. While an explanation was not offered for her resignation, Hodge’s unexpired second term expires in 2014. As a matter of standard protocol, the board must fill Hodge’s seat by appointment until the end of the year…

Districts believe the change will boost voter-participation in school races where the average turnout was a dismal 15 percent for over a decade. But, if the number of inquiries my political consulting practice is fielding from municipal and school board candidates are any indication; this change has created …

Bullying coordinators and concussion prevention among many topics discussed at the Board of Education meeting August 16.
