A look back then to how area merchants sold their wares in the newspaper
Advertising — it's everywhere you look. It was 100 years ago, too. But, the methods of print advertising were, let's say, just as odd as some of the products and services promoted back in the day. And the combination of services marketed a century ago in the local Red Bank Register was just downright funny. An undertaker, for instance, who will also upholster your furniture. Considering, ya gotta wonder a little bit about what went on during the embalming process in that guy's business. Then there was money to be made in selling milk, "sanitary milk," as one advertiser promoted. That's good. The milk was clean. Or is it that the milk cleans, as in a sanitizer? I know, I'm milking it ... And, moving on ... Advertisements may have changed …
