2014 Rumson St. Patrick's Day Parade Fundraising Festivities Begin

The event will be held at Murphy's Tavern.

Rumsonites are gearing up for the second annual St. Patrick's Day parade in the borough; and all are invited to join in the effort this weekend.

While the event is set for nearly two months from now on March 9, people are busy raising funds to defray its costs and setting the tone.

So, in the spirit of doing a bit of both, there will be a fundraiser, replete with Irish food and music, at Murphy's Tavern, 17 Ward Lane, Rumson on Saturday starting at 1 p.m.

Admission is $10 and covers the cost of the food and music.

This year, Mayor John Ekdahl said, there will be 10 bagpipe bands in the parade.
Heisman Trophy winner, retired U.S. Army brigadier general and businessman Pete Dawkins, a longtime Rumsonite, will be the parade's grand marshal. Fair Havenite JoAnn Pileggi, reporter for Fox 5 and My9 News, will return as master of ceremonies.

The committee charged with the parade fundraising, dubbed The Rumson St. Patrick's Day Parade, Inc. is a non-profit, tax-exempt entity designed to provide the funds to cover the cost of the parade. For more information, check the organization's website at www.rumsonstpatricksdayparade.org.
