Rockin' a Holiday Weekend in R-FH Area

Weekend holiday events in Rumson and Fair Haven include tree lightings, Santa, holiday stroll, holiday boutique, jazz concert, Tim McLoone concert, RFH Tower Singers and Deane Porter chorus.

It's that time of year — the most wonderful, as the saying goes.

And there will be lots of wonderment winding its way through Rumson and Fair Haven this weekend.

Fair Haven, on Friday evening, will host its annual tree lighting and new holiday stroll from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Santa Claus will arrive via firetruck at Memorial Park on the corner of River and Fair Haven roads.

There will be visits and photos with Santa, music by the The Band of Two Rivers and a tree lighting at the park at 6 p.m.

As part of the new Holiday Stroll addition, businesses in the area will offer snacks and specials replete with warming stations where free food, "fun for kids" and beverages will be offered.

“The area of River Road between Raven and the Peach in the west and Ferguson Dental Care in the east will host the holiday stroll," said Carolyn Ferguson, a member of the Fair Haven Business Association Marketing Committee, a sponsor of the event. "We invite everyone in Fair Haven and neighboring towns to stroll this area. Our charming town is a beautiful setting for this holiday celebration.”

Then, on Sunday, Rumson will host its tree lighting and traditional annual holiday gala event in Victory Park starting at 5 p.m. Tim McLoone and the Shirleys, with some Holiday Express guests, will entertain, as will RFH's Tower Singers and the Deane Porter Third Grade Chorus.

Santa will come to town as well and the tree will be lit.

Also on Sunday, The Next Generation of Soul, a jazz group, will entertain at the Fisk Chapel, 38 Fisk St., Fair Haven from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The group is described as "a taste of the islands … a bit of R&B … a helping of Big Band swing and 'knock you over' straight ahead blues."

And at Rumson Country Day, there will be a Holiday Shopping Boutique starting at 11 a.m. Click here for more information.
