School News, Cyclist Accident Update, Business Scoop in Week Ahead

It's what's going on this week in the Rumson-Fair Haven area.

Good Monday morning to you, R-FH area friends and fans!

Well, it was a nice weekend with lots to do. And it looks like this week is going to be one filled with good weather, except for the possibility of scattered showers today, according to the weather troll, uh, I mean National Weather Service.

The chance of showers is 40 percent, with temperatures hitting a high of 71 degrees. And it looks like the rest of the week is going to be mostly sunny, with a high temperature of 74 degrees on Thursday.

In case you missed any of the top news last week, click here to catch up with our round-up.

It's a light meeting week, but Fair Haven Board of Education is meeting on Sept. 18. That date got changed from the end of August, due to the fair and the fact that RFH has its Back to School night on the 25th (original date) and will now allow our parents to attend that and not miss our BOE meeting, Superintendent Nelson Ribon tells us.

And, guess what? It's picture day at Knollwood today and Tuesday. What to wear? Hmmm. Better yet, does the picture dude still give out combs or try to comb the kids' hair in a very unflattering fashion? Send us your favorite retro school pics at elaine.develde@patch.com. This should be fun.

Open houses are this week, too. Knollwood's is Thursday and Sickles' is Tuesday.

And in Rumson, the PTO meets at 9:15 a.m. on Wednesday and the PTO Fall Festival is Friday from 4:30 to 7 p.m.

Rumson's Back to School Nights are next week. And, they're looking for crossing guards in Rumson schools.

Besides school news, we have some features coming up and some updates on businesses and news. We'll also update you on the accident during the Tour de Fair Haven yesterday. Were you there?

Patch made it toward the end with a malfunctioning camera, very unfortunately. So if you have any photos you'd like to share, send them over to elaine.develde@patch.com.

If we've left anything out, let us know. In the meantime, I'll see you around the towns …
