R-FH Area Week Ahead: Graduations, Meetings, Business News Updates

Hello, R-FH area friends and fans! So, how do ya like us now?

Around the towns, I've heard mixed reviews about our new site. Some of you love it and others, well, not so much. Hang in! It's new. There are bound to be glitches along the way, but the news you can use and just plain enjoy reading will still be coming to you every day.

In spite of the minute complexities of a the new site roll-out it was an interesting news week. We found out that Sea Bright is going to benefit from a major beach replenishment project any day now. And, this week, we have an update on waterway debris removal post-Sandy.

One graduation milestone has been hit in the area and others are to come tonight and tomorrow — graduations.

Knollwood eighth graders graduated on Thursday. Patch was there to get some video of the traditional walk down Third Street and capture some moments in photos. If you didn't see them, take a look.

Tonight at 6 p.m. Forrestdale eighth graders will be graduating at the RFH auditorium. We'll be there. And tomorrow, is the RFH graduation at the school at 5 p.m. Of course, we'll be there as well.

Speaking of school, last week we found out that Rumson is considering bringing a uniform dress code to it's district. There was a survey, the results of which were to be tabulated today. We'll catch up with officials on the latest word on that subject. Remember, there needed to be at least an 80 percent response in order for the survey results to count as official input.

Then, there are local government issues to hone in on this week …
Tonight there's a Fair Haven Borough Council meeting, which we will catch you all up on. Word has it that there will be some explaining of the McCarter Park revamp plans.

And there just may be more to report on other issues. We'll see.

There's also a Rumson Borough Council meeting, also on the same night as the RFH graduation. We'll try to pop in after graduation and catch up with the latest news there.

We know that Mayor John Ekdahl has been serving on a committee charged with making recommendations on Sandy Hook's new management plan and the direction of Fort Hancock preservation and/or development. We plan on checking in with him on that this week.

In the business world …

We'll catch up with Booskerdoo and find out exactly when the new coffee stop is opening. There's been a bit of a flurry of activity around there and signs the opening coming "any day now."

And, we may pop in at a Rumson eatery to see what's cooking.

Kind Burgers has been doing well since its opening in Fair Haven. A pop-in over there is on the Patch agenda as well.

And, finally, don't forget that the Rumson-Fair Haven Run is Friday. Everyone knows that the event is one of the most popular between the two towns. But how much do you know about its namesake, A.J. Bruder? We'll take a look back at A.J. and his story.

Until then, enjoy and let us know if we've missed anything.

See you around the towns!
