Cake Boss, Sports Success & Meeting

It's what's going on in the Rumson-Fair Haven area this week.

Good chilly Monday morning to you, friends and fans.

Brrrrr! Hope you had a good weekend and stayed warm and entertained. The football Bulldogs are headed to the states and everyone's thrilled. The RFH play was a success, by all accounts. And soccer and cross country teams did very well, too.

If anyone has photos of any of these events, please send them over. We'll be more than happy to post them! There was certainly a lot going on. If you missed any news from last week, be sure to check our round-up of top stories by clicking here.

And, it's on to a new week with Thanksgiving a few days away.

Around the towns this week …

• To start the week, Fair Haven is having its Borough Council meeting at Knollwood School today at 1 p.m. to teach the students how local government works. All are welcome.

• Well, if you need to pick up a dessert for the holidays, your bakery choices are about to expand. Carlo's Bakery Red Bank, of Cake Boss fame, is opening on Broad Street today at 4 p.m.

• And, though Rumson and Fair Haven are not having tree lighting ceremonies just yet, the lighting next door in Red Bank is usually attended by residents from all over the area. The tradition returns to Red Bank on Friday when Santa arrives on a train from Little Silver and marches, or rides, in a parade from the train station to the center of town where Tim McLoone's Holiday Express will perform along with others and the tree will be lit.

Weather, sun and moon …

• Yes, it's going to stay chilly this week, and we're hearing we may be in for some stormy weather on Tuesday and Wednesday. So, be careful driving, if you are.

• For some mystical sun and moon information, or just your own interest, check out the moon phase, amount of sunlight and moonlight during the day and more by clicking here.

We'll be bringing you some meeting news, holiday and business updates, some photos of the arrival of Carlo's and more.

Until then, I'll see you around the towns …
