Athletic Legacy: Rumson's Bob Kelleher

By all accounts, Bob Kelleher was a Rumson hometown hero.

The former of the , known for dedicating his life to volunteerism, died suddenly in July of 2009. He left behind a legacy of love for his wife and son, the community in which he lived, its people and its causes — and sports.

Known as a friend to all who never said "no" to a good cause, Kelleher is fondly remembered for helping save neighbors' lives, coaching Pop Warner football, lacrosse and baseball. His wife, Denise will tell you that many have vivid memories of Bob running across the every day.

Kelleher loved his running, swimming and biking. And he loved his son, Patrick, dearly and all the kids of the community.

So, the triathalon in his name was the perfect legacy, Denise had told .
