Tails of Love: Story Contest for Children Who Love Animals

8 winners will get to produce their own animal cartoon at Small Factory Productions in Fair Haven. Deadline for entry is April 14th.

Is your child an animal lover? Is your child's pet a member of the family? Has your child ever done anything to help an animal in need? Well, if the answer is yes, the Purr’n Pooch Foundation for Animals would love to hear all about it!

Children ages 5 to 10 from across Monmouth County are invited to submit their pet or animal stories to the “Tails of Love” Contest. Organizers are looking for creative, original stories and/or drawings from children who love animals. The deadline for contest submissions is Thursday, April 14th, 2011.

Tails of Love is a project put together by the joint effort of the Purr’n Pooch Foundation for Animals and . "Thanks to our shared vision, Small Factory Productions has created a fun and unique vehicle for our foundation to educate children about animal awareness, as well as the entire community," said Elizabeth Palazzo, president of Purr’n Pooch Foundation for Animals.

 The contest is in support of the Foundation’s educational initiatives that promote the humane treatment and adoption of animals in need and distress.

Chris Dudick, owner and founder of Small Factory Productions, said he is excited to be on board with this project. "The Foundation and the people dedicated to its mission are doing wonderful things for animals in the community and Small Factory is happy to share its love of children’s literacy and storytelling for this wonderful cause,” he said.

Small Factory Productions is a production company based in Fair Haven, NJ that creates children's entertainment produced for kids by kids. They have created a library of more than 200 cartoons produced by more than 1,000 children from across NY and NJ. 

On April 15th, a panel of judges representing the Purr’n Pooch Foundation for Animals and Small Factory Productions will select eight “Tails of Love” Contest winners. Winners will then be invited to create an original animated short film with the creative team at Small Factory Productions on April 30th, May 1st and May 7th from 9 to 11 a.m.

Entries should be no longer than 1,000 words or the size of an 8 1/2” x 11” sheet of paper. Submissions will be accepted in all forms of media: pencil, crayon, paint, marker or comput- er-generated art. The sky’s the limit! Each winner will receive a DVD copy of the film and appear as special guests at the Purr’n Pooch Foundation for Animals “Tails of Love” movie premiere at the Purr’n Pooch Foundation for Animals’ “Paws for a Cause Day” at Pier Village in Long Branch, New Jersey (date in June to be announced).
