Students Collecting Treasure for Troops Overseas

RFH community fills "treasure box" of goodies for troops overseas with help of local scouts.

Rumson Fair Haven Regional High School (RFH) community has been proud supporters of troops overseas.

In December, the RFH Character Education organization sent more than 50 Care Packages to Troops in Afghanistan. There was a real connection because the boxes were addressed to Sean MacDonald, a Marine and member of the RFH Class of 2008. They send care packages to troops every year. Chrissy Camp, school counselor and co-advisor to Character Education, said, "It's more heartfelt this year because it's giving to a former R-FH student and his platoon."

Now, another member of the RFH community is overseas and is asking for some support.

Recently, a request came from a student whose Dad has been deployed to the Middle East. As part of his Air Force duties, he is meeting many servicemen and women who would benefit from some much needed items from home, and he plans to make a “Treasure Box” that can be utilized by these troops as they head out to their duty stations.

This has mobilized RFH again, and Character Education and Ms. Grumbach’s classes are collecting items to fill care packages. Local scout troops have also started collecting, and there should be a large shipment headed overseas to benefit our Troops.
