Spreading the News About the Horizons Program at RCDS

Horizons gala at the Rumson Country Day School raises awareness about the student enrichment program held there each year.

The "spread the news" about another successful summer and raised money for the next one with a 60's themed .

The gym was transformed into a chic ‘60’s era Manhattan nightclub on September 17 and dubbed “Club Horizons”. Attendees dressed the part in their Don & Betty Draper best to benefit the Horizons Student Enrichment Program.

The Horizons program is an academic and recreational summer enrichment program whose mission is to promote the potential of local children in grades K – 8, who are living in low income circumstances. The Rumson Country Day School generously donates its facilities, but Horizons relies 100% on outside funding to operate the six-week program for 110+ children each summer.

Robin Scheman, Horizons Board President, premiered a moving new video that captures the essence of the Horizons program in the words and faces of Horizons students, parents, teachers and volunteers. "In keeping with our gala theme, it is now time to “spread the news” about Horizons to the larger community,” Scheman said about the video.

The remainder of the evening included a raffle and silent auction, followed by dinner and dancing to the sounds of The Groove Shop.

“I was thrilled with the entire evening,” said Scheman.  “The event was full of energy, generosity and so much support for Horizons."
