Sign a Card to Honor Our Veterans

The VFW wants us to help send thank you cards to hospitalized veterans.

Looking for a way to honor veterans this Memorial Day? Look no further than the Veterans of Foreign Wars. The members of this organization have fought for our country, experienced the hardships our men and women are facing today, and are devoting their time and energy to supporting our troops in a variety of ways. Their goal is to remember America's heroes, and they have sworn to foster comraderie, serve and advocate for those who have served, as their service and sacrifice should never go unrewarded.

Of the many wonderful programs they sponsor, the creation of thank you cards to hospitalized veterans is very timely. Use the organization's Web site to fill out the computerized card.

The VFW will then create a hard copy to award to an injured soldier.  It is obvious that support shown by the people of this nation is uplifing to these men and women therefore the more cards sent, the better.

If you are looking to get involved or find out what our local VFW post is up to, you can visit them at 50 Waterworks Road in Freehold or call 732-462-4896. Any area veteran can receive guidance and support from filing papers to readjusting to civilian life from Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4374.

The organization uses donations to assist veterans and their families. Contributions to the cause  at this time of year would be heartening.

On Memorial Day Weekend, we are encouraged to support the VFW and all they do for our men and women in the military.
