Set-Up: The Fair Haven Firemen's Fair

It's a sure sign summer is coming to a close when you drive by the and see Majestic Midway trucks, dismantled amusement rides and cleared fire truck bays. They're setting up for "the fair."

To Fair Havenites, that's what is — simply, "the fair."

It has always marked endings and new beginnings: R-FH students meeting up on the grounds and saying their week-long good-byes before heading off to college; kids coming back together before school starts and talking about who got what teacher; and those many familiar volunteer faces handing out balloons and prizes and serving up some classic fair food.

It's always the last year in August, but, to be exact, this year, the fair runs from Aug. 24 to Sept. 1 and volunteers are needed. Click here for specifics from the fire company.
