RFH Crew Holds "Row 4A Reason" Fundraiser

A senior at RFH rallied his rowing team to row long distances to raise money for people with cerebral palsy and other physical disabilities.

A message from the Rumson Fair Haven Rowing Foundation:

On November 2nd, after many weather delays, varsity members from the RFH Crew team set out on the Navesink River to "Row 4A Reason". 

Dughan Ahimovic, a senior at , had approached the Rumson Fair Haven Rowing Foundation, a 501(c)(3), this past August because he wanted to support the RFH Crew team's fundraising efforts and also give back to the community.

Dughan, along with his mom, Sue Ahimovic, have a strong respect for the Ladacin Network and felt that this organization would be a great recipient for their give-back idea.LADACIN Network is a non-profit agency whose mission is to provide education, therapeutic, social, residential, and support services for people with cerebral palsy and other physical disabilities.  The Board members of the Rumson Fair Haven Rowing Foundation were thrilled to support Dughan in his efforts.

The athletes set out to obtain sponsors and pledges for rowing long distances.  Dughan also designed a t-shirt that athletes and sponsors would receive with certain donation amounts.

"It is great to see our athletes on the water working together to give back to the community. We are a community sport and hold numerous fundraisers and we are thrilled to be able to give back to another deserving organization," said Karyn Frank, Rumson Fair Haven Rowing Foundation co-president. 

For safety and support, Coaches Mike Owdij and Kathy Richardson donated their time to ride along with the athletes who participated in this event. In addition to Dughan, participants included Shannon Swikart, Tessa Liberi, Hope Knochenhauer, Merci Lister, Coach Owdij, Grace Mullan, Laura Dell, Abby VanHemmen, Jacquie Moser, Katie Kane, Chris Cerruti, Matt Valko, Zach Beacher, and Brian Lenahan.

Dughan said he was very happy that his team stepped up and made the event a success. "This was a great opportunity for our team to do a sport we love and to give back to a great cause," he said.
