Rumson-Fair Haven Pop Warner kicked off its Fall 2011 Season on Sunday, August 21st with the second annual Bob Kelleher Memorial Friendship Games.
Four RFH Pop Warner teams competed against Bridgewater-Raritan Pop Warner and despite the rain, raised $278 for the Rumson EMS in ’s name.
“Bob was the best friend you could ask for. The is extremely grateful to RFH Pop Warner for including us in this event.
The generous amount raised for us will be put to good use,” said Jen
Wargo, President of the Rumson EMS.
Bob Kelleher passed away two years ago and was not only an RFH Pop
Warner Coach, but was Captain of the Rumson EMS. RFH Pop Warner thought it only fitting to dedicate their Friendship Games in Kelleher’s name.
Jay Clark, RFH Pop Warner President, remembered Kelleher as a dedicated friend, coach and volunteer: "Kelleher epitomized everything that is good about public service by giving back to his community through his volunteering with the Rumson EMS and coaching with RFH Pop Warner. This weekend provides a great opportunity to show our thanks for his selfless contributions."
Denise Kelleher who was at the Junior Midget game watching their son Patrick play. “Bob had many friends through his coaching and through his involvement in the Rumson EMS, and it is great RFH Pop Warner recognized this by naming the Friendship Games after him,” she said.
In addition to the fundraiser for the Rumson EMS, RFH Pop Warner
put on quite a show with their snack bar with great food as well as announcing by AJ Kelly.
