Benefit Rock Concert at RFH Raises Over $3,000 to Help Save the Music

The school hosted a "Night of Classic Rock" to raise money for the VH1 Save the Music Foundation.

Hundreds of people rocked out in the Rumson Fair Haven Regional High School (RFH) auditorium to help raise money for an organization that helps fund music education underfunded school districts across the country. 

RFH hosted , a benefit concert for the VH1 Save the Music Foundation, on March 24, 2011. 

The idea for the event started with seniors  and Stefan Mann. "Myself and my friend decided to do this because we have benefited so much from our excellent music department," said Ryan.

All the proceeds from the night were donated to the VH1 Save the Music Foundation, a non-profit organization that reaches out to America's public schools by raising money and awareness to the importance of music education. They've provided more than $47 million in new musical instruments to 1,750 public schools in more than 100 cities around the country. Their work has touched the lives of over 1.6 million students. 

The concert included about 20 songs including classics from The Doors, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Led Zepplin and Meatloaf.

Vocalists that performed throughout the night included Austin Ryan, Kate Incremona, Maris Krauss, Bradley Carter, Nicky Kellogg, Andy Waldron, Griffon Silver, Liam Ryan, Dan Miller and Gabby Kenny. Guitarists who played thought the performances include Kyle Ward, Scott Drummond, Luke Popielski, Jeremy Atlas, Griffon Silver and Amanda Webster. Ben Sherman and Jack Drummond played the drums and Glen Wise, Michael Nociolo, Andy Waldron and Greg Canals played the piano or keyboard. 

In addition to the student performances, the featured band of the evening was EleFUNK.

Tickets costed $10 and refreshments were sold to help boost donations. When the proceeds and donations were counted at the end of the night, the event raised over $3,300 dollars to donate to the foundation.
