It's Labor Day weekend, the sun is out and beaches and businesses along the shore in the Rumson-Fair Haven area expect to get "slammed," Christine Dilorio, in Sea Bright said.
is running for its final two nights, Saturday being the last. It will be open from 6 to 11 p.m. On Saturday, the drawing for the winner of the Super 50/50 will take place and more than $10,000 is expected to be given away.
On Saturday, if you're skipping the fair, or before or after it, you can hit local bars and eateries for some cocktails,music and dinner.
At Val's Tavern in Rumson, alumni of Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School have been gathering all week long for Reunion Week. That will culminate in a performance by The Haven — Unplugged. The band is full of R-FH grads, such as Class of '79's Dan Beggs.
At DIVE!, in Sea Bright, there are early bar specials; and on Saturday night, there will be a band.
At the Dockside bar and restaurant, also in Sea Bright, there's music all weekend, starting at 6 p.m. Friday night with Chris Flusk & the Council.
Saturday at 2 p.m. Dave Mcarthy will be on the deck entertaining until 6 p.m., when the Barflies will take over. On Sunday, Tropical Impulse will entertain starting at 2 p.m. with islander music; and Three Pieace Nugget will play classic tunes from 6 on.
On Labor Day, Monday, Danger Zone will take the deck at 5 p.m.
And, of course, the end of the summer in the area would not be the same for natives without a trip to Donovan's Reef's tiki bar on the beach listening to Brian Kirk and the Jirks and Daddy Pop on Sunday.
