'Shore Shots' Calendar Sports Pre-Sandy Glory

Traditional calendar available for download

The annual "Shore Shots" calendar put out by the New Jersey Sea Grant Consortium garners much attention - and praise - each year. But it holds special meaning for 2013.

This year, the computer desktop calendar, which features shots of picturesque coastal places from Sandy Hook to Cape May, should "help us all us all remember what a true treasure the Jersey Shore is and hopefully motivate us to all work together to restore the shore to its pre-Sandy glory," said Kim Kosko, NJSGC spokeswoman.

Photographs from across the Shore area are submitted by members of the public as well as Sea Grant employees and volunteers. It also includes photos submitted in partnership with NJSGC's "NJ Top Ten Beaches" initiative, an annual poll to declare which town is home to the state's favorite beach.

The January calendar photo showcases a striking, pristine image of the Sandy Hook Lighthouse at dawn after a snowstorm, taken by local nature photographer and former mayor Bill Dalton of Interlaken, who has provided images to NJSGC in the past for media events and special projects.

The first series of 2012 desktop calendars featuring the photo contest winners proved to be one of the most popular destinations on the organization’s website this past year. The new calendars will be available for download beginning the last week of December on the NJSGC home page at www.njseagrant.org.
