Sea Bright: Revamping from Sandy's Devastation

Information on Sea Bright's public beach and access points

Sea Bright is the Rumson-Fair Haven area's signature shore that was clobbered by Hurricane Sandy.

Still, the beach is getting back in shape, after some replenishment, recovery and beautification. Many volunteers have mobilized to prepare the Sea Bright beach for its summer season.

Sea Bright Public Beach, once revamped from Sandy's devastation, will again offer lifeguards and rescue personnel, outdoor showers and restroom facilities. It has been a mainstay in the Monmouth County shore area for a long time and is home to a majority who live there year-round.

Tucked behind the police station in the downtown section of Sea Bright, it is the primary public access point for beachgoers in the area who do not belong to one of the myriad private membership beach clubs for which the area is known.

The clubs are still rebuilding post-Sandy, and, as stated on the borough's website, there are seven public access points along the Sea Bright shores, including the public beach.

The public beach is a short walk away from several downtown restaurants, ranging from from casual to elegant.

Beach fees for the season are $95, $35 for seniors (65 and over). Children are admitted free. Daily entrance fees, including weekends, are $7. The beach is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Badges may be purchased at the beach entrances or at the small beach badge house in the municipal parking lot on Ocean Avenue.
