Rumson-Fair Haven Lacrosse Teams Fall Short of Sectional Titles

The Allentown girls and Mountain Lake boys' teams clinch championships

The boys and girls Rumson-Fair Haven lacrosse teams fell short of their respective sectional titles Wednesday. 

The Allentown girls’ lacrosse team took a 13-12 victory over Rumson-Fair Haven in the NJSIAA South Jersey Group II Tournament final, according to nj.com. The Redbirds are headed to the state championship game.

With less than 3 minutes, the Bulldogs (18-6) scored two goals to crawl within two points of Allentown (22-1). The score came within one with just 24 seconds remaining, but the Redbirds were able to hold Rumson-Fair Haven, nj.com reported.

The Rumson-Fair Haven boys’ team was defeated by Mountain Lake (16-5) in an 8-6 Group I final at Livingston, according to the Daily Record.

With 6 minutes and 6 seconds remaining in the game, the Lakers and Bulldogs were tied 6-6, the Daily Record reported. Mountain Lake scored with 5:02 to play and took an insurance goal with 1:24 left to clinch the championship.
