The cheerleading team brought home a second place trophy from their first competition ever in the program’s history.

“RFH Cheer brought home a trophy for the first time in our history,” said Amy Clark, the RFH Pop Warner cheer commissioner. “Our squad worked very hard and showed Jersey Shore that we are shining stars!”

Two Bulldog Mitey-Mite teams performed for fun the morning of the event. In the afternoon, the RFH Junior Pee Wee team competed in the small novice division with “Stars” as the theme for their competition routine. This team is made up of twelve girls, ages 9-11. They placed second to Freehold Giants and beat out the Point Pleasant Elks.

“I am so proud of these girls!” said Clark. “This is the first time a team from RFH Pop Warner has entered a competition. It truly is a team effort that includes the cheerleaders, their parents, and the coaches.”

The girls performed a 2 minute 30 second routine the day of the competition, which includes cheer, stunting, tumbling, jumping and dance. Clark credits her coaching staff for such a successful start to the competition season. The staff includes Noel Aliseo and Amanda Straley who volunteer thier time and bring their vast experience and knowledge of the sport to the program.

“We feel we have put together all the best people to make great things happen for our cheerleaders,” said Clark.

The win at the conference competition qualified the team for the next round. The girls will return to the Sun Center Arena in Trenton on October 30, 2011 for the Regional Qualifiers. If it all ends well, the RFH Junior Pee Wee Cheer Competition team could wind up at Nationals held at Walt Disney World in Orlando in December.

But before their next competition, the team will give a hometown performance to show other Bulldog fans what they’ve got. The team will perform their routine during the pre-game show at the Homecoming game tonight.

“We should have a pretty big hometown crowd and a chance to show off our trophy and our shining talent,” said Clark. “We’re so excited!”

The game starts at 7:00 p.m. but the girls will hit the turf around 6:45 p.m. Be sure not to miss these shining stars!
