RFH Football Continues Pop Warner Tradition

The Rumson-Fair Haven (RFH) Pop Warner Football League is getting ready for the upcoming season.

“The RFH Bulldogs are looking forward to the upcoming season with our fellow Pop Warner organizations that have chosen to continue the 50 years of great football tradition at the Jersey Shore," says Jay Clark, President of RFH Pop Warner. 

RFH Pop Warner is a founding member of the Jersey Shore Pop Warner Football League which was founded in 1961. While many recreational football programs have decided to join a new league called the American Youth Football and Cheer League, RFH has decided to stay with their Pop Warner tradition.

“It was not really a hard decision for the RFH Bulldogs to continue their long time association with Pop Warner.  Before the consolidation into our current franchise, the Rumson Bulldogs and Fair Haven Tigers were among the original eight franchises to start the Jersey Shore Pop Warner league in 1960.  Since that time, our organization has had a good relationship with PopWarner having won 5 Shore Conference Championships and an Eastern Region Championship," said Clark.

Another reason Clark said they will stay with the Jersey Shore Pop Warner Football League was their focus on school achievements. "We have also enjoyed many benefits that Pop Warner offers, most notably is the region and national recognition for Scholastic Excellence.  Each year several RFH student athletes are awarded the title of Academic All-American," he said.

Rumson-Fair Haven Pop Warner will have registration for Fall 2011 play on Friday, May 6th at Forrestdale  School in Rumson. Interested Boys and Girls ages 7 to 15 can register from 6pm to 8pm in the Forrestdale cafeteria for both football and cheerleading. 

Players and cheerleaders should bring proof of insurance as well as emergency contact information and doctor information to registration of Friday, May 6th from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.  RFH Pop Warner has a fee of $275 for each football participant and $175 for each cheerleading participant.  For more information, please email Amy Clark at ajclark@verizon.net or visit www.rfhdawgs.com.
