Fair Haven Recreation and River Rangers to Talk Summer Camp

Come any time from 7 to 9 p.m. to find our more about the Navesink Maritime Heritage Association's programs for youth age 10-14 (River Rangers, summer only) and 14-21 (Sea Scouts, all year round). Sign up your children or grand children. River Rangers is open to children from any town.

This evening meeting is organized and run by Fair Haven Recreation Department and in addition to NMHA, other organizations will be there offering summer activities

Navesink Maritime Heritage Association conducts the River Rangers program as an educational and recreational week-long summer experiential educational and recreational activity for 10-14 year old students. We conduct the program on the Navesink and Swimming Rivers in Monmouth County.

While River Rangers offers great variety and flexibility, the basic format consists of a 5-day program using wooden canoes that have been built during NMHA's organized community boat building events. Each program uses 10-12 canoes with two CPR-certified adult instructors and a maximum of 20 expedition members.

NMHA provides program materials including a lesson plan book for instructors and, for participants, maps of the Navesink River with marked places to visit, bird charts, seining nets, fishing poles, log books and more. NMHA developed a training course for instructors on land and on the water.
