Cool Runners Fitness Camp Coming to Fair Haven

With the warmer weather quickly approaching it is time to start thinking about summer camps. For active children between the ages of first and eighth grade, there is a new camp coming to Fair Haven.

Director of Robert Thomas Cavanaugh (RTC) Training, Robert Cavanaugh is partnering with Fair Haven Recreation to bring the Cool Runners Fitness Camp to local children.

“Having three kids between the ages of 1, 4, and 6, that enjoy playing outside and running, I thought that developing youth camps that focus on developing fitness, self-respect, and healthy lifestyles through running was needed for our area,” explained Cavanaugh.

As a long time runner and soccer player, Cavanaugh’s athletic resume includes breaking records and earning honors while attending Red Bank Catholic High School and Monmouth University.

“From competing at the collegiate level and having great coaches through the years, I have gained a wealth of knowledge about running and I want to provide that knowledge to the kids in the area.”

According to Cavanaugh, Cool Runners Fitness Camp is designed to provide a fun, positive environment for all campers. Each day campers will participate in warm up and cool down sessions, drills, fitness games, races, and running discussions.

“My goal is when the younger kids leave the camp they want to continue to get outside and exercise instead of wanting to watch television or video games. With the older kids, they will leave having learned proper techniques to running, proper warm up and cool downs, injury prevention and more. Overall, I want everyone leaving the camp saying running is fun.”

Interested children can now register for the Cool Runners Fitness Camp which will run from July 9 to July 13. The camp will meet at the from 8:30 a.m. until 10 a.m. each day. Total cost for the camp is $95.
