2012 Olympian Connor Jaeger Swimming in World Championships

Jaeger is headed to Barcelona, Spain to compete.

Connor Jaeger has done it again.

It's not the Olympics this time — only because the Olympics are not held every year. This year, the Fair Havenite who came in sixth in the world for freestyle swimming in last year's Summer Olympics swam his way to Team USA to compete in yet another world championship — the 2013 World Championship in Barcelona Spain, to be exact.

Jaeger did what was considered the extraordinary in the world champ trials arena in Indianapolis, IN, at the end of June, taking first place in three freestyle swimming events and breaking a national record in the process, his father, Eric, said.

He won the 400-meter freestyle with a time of 3:45.89, the1,500-meter freestyle with a time of 14:53.34, and the 800-meter freestyle, breaking U.S. Open and U.S. Long Course National Championships record with a time of 7:46.78.

So, now, a year after he competed in the Olympics, the University of Michigan's 2012-13 Male Athlete of the Year and Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School alumni is on his way to Barcelona to compete in four events at the end of the month.

It has been said that Connor Jaeger is having the best year yet of his swimming career, having also won the title and a host of NCAA championships as well. Now this. And his family could not be more proud.

"He's physically stronger from the endless hours of practice and mentally stronger from the experiences of going to the Olympics," Eric Jaeger said of his son. "Connor is having a great year and we are so proud he will once again represent Team USA and Fair Haven as he competes in the World Championships."

Stay tuned. Patch will keep you posted on Connor's progress.
