Taking Knollwood's 2013 Graduation Walk

There are two different graduation walks when you're an eighth grade graduate of Fair Haven's Knollwood School — the one at the ceremony and the traditional walk from the school down Third Street to Sickles School for the party.

Yes, it's a new tradition in Fair Haven. And it's one for which seemingly everyone in the 1.4-square-mile borough comes out.

First, Third Street, the gateway to Sickles, is lined with congratulatory posters, balloons and chalk art. Then this year's class of 120 students gets bussed to their future high school, Rumson-Fair Haven Regional (RFH), for the ceremony.

After the ceremony, they get bussed back to Knollwood. There's a huddle in the auditorium. Then, with parents and friends lined all the way down Third, the class streams out and takes their final Fair Haven schools walk.

When they get to Sickles, where the gym is decorated in a surprise motif — this year, Dr. Seuss — the party begins.

Yes, it's another R-FH area tradition. Take a look at the video clip above for a glimpse into Knollwood's Class of 2013 graduation night. And stay tuned for a photo gallery of people and places of the eve.

Congrats, graduates!
