Snow Days Lead to Fair Haven School District Calendar Changes

Sickles and Knollwood schools will be in session on Feb. 11.

Class will be in session for Fair Haven students on Feb. 11 as a result of two recently used snow days.

The Fair Haven Board of Education has approved modifications to this year's school calendar during a board meeting on Jan. 22. Both Sickles and Knollwood schools will be in session on Feb. 11, which was originally slated to be a part of the winter break along with Monday, Feb. 10. Both schools will remain closed on Feb. 10.

If two additional snow days are required this winter, the final day for both schools will be moved to Friday, June 20 from Thursday, June 19.

Graduation for Knollwood students is still scheduled for Wednesday, June 18 and is unaffected at this time.

If more than four snow days are used this winter, Sickles and Knollwood schools will remain open for as many full-session days as necessary during the Spring Break that is scheduled for April 14-18, according to a press release sent by the district. The days taken from spring break would begin with Friday, April 18.

A letter detailing these changes has been sent by Superintendent of Schools Nelson Ribon to parents of Sickles and Knollwood students. The staff members at both schools have been notified as well.
