Rumson RBC Students Win College Grants

The Friendly Sons of St. Patrick of the Jersey Shore gave grants for excellence to four RBC students.

Two Rumson girls have been recognized for academic excellence and won college grants to advance their goals.

The Friendly Sons of St. Patrick of the Jersey Shore held its annual Brother Peter Mannion Grant Awards Dinner on May 28 at Doolan’s Shore Center, where the grants were presented to area high school seniors.  

Selected among approximately 400 applicants this year were four Red Bank Catholic students, two of them from Rumson: Meghan Swan, of Freehold; Bernadette Hogan and Molly McHugh, both of Rumson; and Meredith Sheehan, of Red Bank.

The grants are awarded to students of Irish heritage who demonstrate academic excellence and community involvement. Through fundraisers held throughout the year, the organization raised $40,000 towards college tuition grants.
