Rumson Country Day School Diplays its Creative Side

Rumson Counrty Day School held its 1st through 8th grade art show recently to showcase their students creativity.

Rumson Country Day School recently held its art show.  Art work created by students in 1st through 8th grade was displayed for the enjoyment of friends and family.  Visitors to the Art Show were treated to performances by the 4th grade band, the lower school chorus and the senior school chorus.

“Art Education is an important part of what we offer at Rumson Country Day.  We want to provide more than academics and athletics; to offer a more well-rounded education” said principal Chad Small.  The students participate in 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional art, music, and woodworking.  For students in grades 3-8, there is an additional “C-period” to further explore creative endeavors where they may pursue jewelry making, playwriting, guitar, printmaking and even fly-tying.  Some 8th grade students had elected to make mosaic tiles during this creative time that will be used as stepping stones in a crosswalk being built in a new garden area.
