Rumson BOE Race Only One Contested

Candidates had until Tuesday to file their paperwork. See who will be back.

The filings are in for the three districts' November board of education races in Rumson and Fair Haven, and only one race, in the Rumson School District, is contested.

In the Rumson district ...

Four candidates will be vying for the three full-term seats on the board that will be up grabs in November, none have ever served on the board before.

, is, however a familiar candidate. After losing his bid to fill an unexpired term to the board in last year's election, he is running for a full term this year.

In addition, the following people are running: Steven C. Frankel, of 153 Bingham Ave.; Diane MacGillis, of 53 Bingham Ave.; and Elaine Melia, of 4 Broadmoor Drive.

The three-year terms that are expiring this year are those of: Rumson Board of Education Vice President Todd Havard, and members Peter Jarck and Craig Pinsly.

In the Fair Haven district ...

The board race is uncontested, with three incumbents running to fill their three full-term seats that will be up for grabs.

Longtime Fair Haven Board of Education President Claudia Brasch, of 292 Hance Rd., is seeking another term.

Also running unopposed for an additional term are current board members Michael Bernstein, of 699 River Rd., and Jeffery Spector, of 116 Lake Ave.

, who was appointed to fill a one-year unexpired term, is running unopposed to be officially elected to fill the term, which is required at election time with an unexpired seat.

In the Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School District ...

Fair Haven candidate:

Michael W. Goione, 46 Clay St., has filed, unopposed, for another term to fill his own seat on the board when it expires.

Rumson candidates:

Current board members Kaye Fiske (Wise), of 83 Rumson Road, and James Wassel, of 14 Hartshorne Lane, are running unopposed for another full term each.
