"Bag a lunch, help a bunch" was the message imparted by Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School students as they recently undertook an initiative of Table to Table, a New Jersey-based food rescue organization dedicated to feeding the hungry.
Heeding this call on Oct. 17, students in the French, Spanish, and Chinese national honor societies at the high school organized a school-wide effort and gave out paper bags to students in which they were asked to place the amount of money they would usually spend on their daily lunch. The paper bags were then collected by designated team captains.
"We raised $821." said R-FH advisor Christine Berg. "I'm very proud of our students!"
The $821 is being sent directly to those in need in surrounding areas.
The team captains for the Chinese National Honor Society were: Liz Bricker and Laura Courchesne. The French National Honor Society's captains were Clare Fitzgerald, Julia Imperatore, Sarah Johnson, Angela Levantino, Nicki Liang, Elena Roig and Katie Veasey. Monica de los Reyes, Amelia DePaola, Gabrielle Dinger, Blake Goodwyn, Kristen Lucas, and Ben Sherman served as team captains for the Spanish National Honor Society.
