Co-ed facility at Sandy Hook sustained water damage

The Marine Academy at Sandy Hook (MAST) will temporarily move to a new location while repairs are made.

The school will relocate to St. Joseph's grammar school, 376 Maple Place, Keyport, which is no longer used as a full-time school. No students will be displaced by the move.

Classes are expected to resume Nov. 13.

The school, a co-ed facility operated by the Monmouth County Vocational High School District, sustained water damage from Hurricane Sandy. MAST is one of five academies run by the vocational district and focuses on marine sciences and marine technology. It's located in the Fort Hancock area of Sandy Hook, adjacent to the Sandy Hook Lighthouse.

A Monmouth County spokesperson said MAST will relocate to Sandy Hook when repairs are complete.
