“This is a big celebration to bring attention to – especially in Monmouth County – the efforts being made to support sustainable practices and products. I hope that it will become an annual event and draw more than just farming organizations," said Cheryl Laviola, co-advisor for the club.

According to RFH, the Environmental Club has long held education at the center of their mission, with many club events centered on service learning and knowledge and skill share between local coastal organizations and the student community. "The Fall Festival will be a perfect opportunity to share information and have fun with family and friends," said Laviola.

Courtney Kurtas, a senior at RFH, is a member of the RFH Environmental Club. She organized a bulk of the donations for prizes by working with local businesses and restaurants like , , and Starbucks. Further, she and other club members visited the to see a good model of farm-to-table businesses and other sustainable practices.

Kurtas said that she learned a lot just by organizing this event. "I was working with local businesses and environmental organizations and found out many things about my community that are new to me.”

The Fall Festival will be located on the RFH practice football field and will feature crafts, food, raffle prizes, and music. Also available will be great food, local and organic produce and even a nitrogen ice cream stand.

All proceeds will be divided between a scholarship fund for students planning on environmental studies in college and OASIS, an organization that supports inclusion and acceptance of autistic individuals by establishing farm centers that provide meaningful work, peaceful and healthy residences and community interaction.
