Holy Cross Scholars Set for CBA

Aidan Broderick and John Sheridan have been awarded scholarships to the school.

Holy Cross scholar athletes Aidan Broderick and John Sheridan have been awarded scholarships to Christian Brothers Academy.

The two competed with roughly 500 other students and received the scholarships based on their entrance exam scores and elementary school records, according to a release from Holy Cross.

Broderick, who garnered a four-year renewable CBA de La Salle Scholarship, must maintain a 93 percent average. Sheridan, a basketball, soccer and track player, was the recipient of CBA's Brother Andrew O’Gara Scholarship. He must maintain a 95 percent average.

“John is one of those 100 percent  kids. He gives his all, whatever he does,” Sheridan's English teacher, English teacher, Anne McCoullough said in a released statement.

Broderick, who plays on a recreation program’s traveling baseball team, plans to try out for the CBA team.  “I love playing sports,” he said, adding that he likes math and writing as far as academics go.  Broderick earned the honor of being a Stars Challenge scholar, representing Holy Cross, at a science enrichment program at Monmouth University for top middle school students.
