Gold Medalist Visits with RCDS Students

Donna Weinbrecht visited students at Rumson Country Day School on Tuesday, May 8.

(RCDS) students received an up-close look at an Olympic Gold Medal and the hard work and motivation that comes with it, while visiting with Donna Weinbrecht.

Weinbrecht, a fellow New Jersey native, spent time with students in first through eighth grade on Tuesday, May 8 and talked about her life and journey to Olympic Gold. Admitting that her course was not an easy one, especially after tearing her ACL following her 1992 Gold Medal season, Weinbrecht spoke to students about the importance of motivation and perseverance.

To enhance the experience, Weinbrecht even brought in her gold medal that she won during the 1992 Winter Olympics, which was the first freestyle gold medal ever awarded at the Winter Olympics.
